The dialogue and the political discussions can get pretty long, but the books do flow really nicely, and as a series, one book follows the next, almost as though it were one gigantic book just divided out. I've been wanting to get into the books lately but don't have the time to sit down and give it a go, or want to wait almost a week for the books to come in. So I gave the audiobooks a go and it's been great so far. I’m on book 2 right now. The narrator is great, so many different voices. I’m so used to how he portrays Geralt’s voice. First here are the Witcher Books In Order of Publication. Sword of Destiny (1992) — Short Story Collection; The Last Wish (1993 Reading the books is not entirely necessary but if you like to read books, then I would definitely recommend you to read books first. The books are not that long so you can finish them in three-four days. The game takes after the event in the book, so reading books will add so much lore to the world and the characters.
Lady of the Lake. EDIT (5/31/18): The new Witcher book Season of Storms was just released officially in English. It was originally released in 2013 (14 years after the release of Lady of the Lake). It takes place chronologically before the rest of the books but should be read last in order to best understand it. It can now be purchased here.
